The Mediterranean will never go out of fashion; the deep blue, weather, heavenly beaches, and mythical white adorning its landscape are just a few reasons why it takes over the world of summer holidays.

The summerhouse designed by Kapsimalis Architects is located in the village of Fira, Santorini. The main idea was to preserve the old residence in ruins in the best way possible and to transform it into a minimalist house to spend holidays. The design is integrated by white cubist architecture (typical of the area), with a contemporary twist, and the challenge was to adapt the project to the irregular and narrow shape of the building. The materials used were reinforced concrete, the already existing volcanic rocks, white plaster for the outside and inside walls, and cement for the floor.

Due to the lack of space, the first floor is an open area holding the living room, bedroom, kitchen, a walk-in closet, and bathroom, everything arranged in a line to make the most out of the space; walls were avoided and the decoration is simple. The entrance has a small courtyard with a view of the volcano, while an outdoor stairway leads to the upper floor, where a small swimming pool is found. There is an extra section on the same floor with one bedroom and bathroom.
