Design as psychological stimulation

Design as psychological stimulation

Tuve hotel unveils physical and psychological senses through simplicity; perfectly modern and relaxing, it was designed so its visitors can interact with every part of the project.

Located in Hong Kong, China and designed by Design Systems LTD (an industrial and interior design firm), it is a bet for the “less is more” concept. The hotel combines different hues of gray, white, and a game of lights, to give a twist to the somber effect. The materials employed in its development are basic, like concrete, steel, oak, glass, brass, and marble, achieving refinement through simplicity.

Light was an essential part for the project’s development. Illumination is something that unites all cultures and in this way, Tuve pretends to take its visitors closer to a global design. Whether natural or artificial, its source is not important, since all the qualities of the elements that make up the place are revealed by it. White marble in the lobby is key for creating a game of shadows, thanks to the way in which light hits the concrete walls and reflects on the floor.

All the details showed during the visit were unique designs, crafts, and areas where the elements that get rusty with time mean to tell a story to their guests.

Tuve presents a design that avoids excesses and shows the purity of forms in neutral shapes that prove that simplicity is key for relaxation.
