Today’s most relevant modern and contemporary art international fair is back from December 6th through the 9th. Miami, Art Basel arrives with different proposals that will captivate art world enthusiasts.
Established in 1970 in Basel, it is currently positioned as leader within the world of expositions. Three locations: Basel, Hong Kong, and Miami Beach. Every presentation is unique and defined by the host city, the galleries where they are held, and the local institutions for every edition.
In addition to art fairs, Art Basel has expanded and is currently featuring new initiatives like Art Basel Cities, which consists in the participation of different cities in the world through cultural programs, with the purpose of taking different ways of living closer to a cultural environment.
This time, the festival partners up with curator Philipp Kaise and The Kitchen (non-profit space established in 1971, as an artist collective, by Woody and Steina Vasulka. Here, artists experimented with and created new forms of art), to present a new version of the work of Abraham Cruzvillegas, Autorreconstrucción: To Insist, to Insist, to Insist… The installation will blend elements from sculpture, dance, music, and performance.

This year, over 200 galleries will have exhibitions with a total of 4,000 works of art. Mexico will stand out by becoming the second country to host the most galleries in Latin America, only behind Brazil.

Nova
Designed so galleries can feature one to three artists, each one will show the work done in the past three years.
Positions
This section is dedicated to emerging artists; here, curators, critics, and collectors mean to discover new global talent.
Edition
Area destined for editorial work, the strangest projects are the result of the collaboration between creative minds and publishing companies.
Kabinett
One artist is selected per gallery to have an exhibition. This section boasts great diversity through projects, group topics, historical art, and solo shows for rising stars.
Survey
Focused on art history projects, it combines the topics from exhibitions with the cultural aspect, different generations, and artistic approach.
